yummy

I had a coffee date today

The Flagg Township Museum is having a 50/50 drawing during the Christmas Walk festivities in December.

I said anyone who bought the $20 ticket package, which includes 24 tickets plus a year's membership to the museum, would also be taken out for coffee by yours truly.

    Well, that happened!

Friend Jen Kudelka bought the package and I treated her to a coffee at Cypress House.

Technically, she did not have a coffee...opting for the Jonamac hot cider with caramel, which tasted like a caramel apple.  I opted for the Dark Side of the Moon, but the caffeine free option.

My plan was to sit outside and have a nice visit in the beautiful fall afternoon.  But Mother Nature felt compelled to create a damp, chilly day, so we sat in the greenhouse portion of Cypress House.

We chatted about life, health, the weather, Santa Clause and a bunch of other stuff before I had to leave to go shopping.

Truthfully, I should have done this weeks ago.  She got the tickets before the ear thing and I just kept putting it off.   Now that the ear issue is answered, sort of, we made a coffee date.

Want to join me in a tasty beverage?  Buy $20 worth f raffle tickets and I will treat you. to a Cypress House beverage.

Today was kind of a fallish day.  Dreary, wet, chilly.  I fell asleep at 1, p.m.,  waking up almost an hour later.

And tonight I thought it was bedtime but it was not even 8!  Holy cow.

The worst news of the day was hearing that NIU is divesting itself of the Lorado Taft Field Campus in Oregon.  All functions end this December..

In the 70s and 80s Taft was a well known outdoor ed center, with students from all over the US and Canada  It has a vibrant history as an art colony, education center, camp location, and just a cool place to visit.

Hopefully it becomes part of Lowden Park and the 100 year old buildings can be saved.  There are  newer dormitories there, so maybe the state could turn those into hotel suites for all the non campers in the world.

It's a place filled with history, nature, and memories.  I will miss it.

Peace and Love
