There is a club I would like to join
Maybe it's not a club as much as a group. I don't think the members do much together, except the ones who are family.
I am talking about the Forbes list of the 400 richest people in the United States.
Of course President Musk tops the list, but there are 12 people with over 100 billion dollars of worth. 12!!!
I always thought George Soros was rich, but he is 165 on the list. And Mark Cuban? 231!
There are lots of familiar names: Walton, Gates, Zuckerberg, but a lot of the people I have never heard of. Not that I do a lot of reading or socializing with the billion dollar club.
After I win the lottery later tonight, the $1.5 billion estimated prize will not get me into the club because the minimum this year was $3.3 billion. That means if you had 2 billion, you were not in the group.
Can you imagine? A country with over 400 billionaires and we have homeless veterans, homeless people in general, food pantries looking for donations, a Social Security System that is running out of money, poor rural health care in many parts of the country, people going without medications or medial treatment because their insurance won't cover it and they can't afford it.
Over 400 billionaires.
I guess I am a little bummed tonight. Normally I am not very serious when I sit down to report on my boring life.
But if I had a teenager just starting to think about careers, I would suggest the oil field, investments, or real estate and they too might beg able to join the club someday.
Peace and Love
