Just a lot of disconnected thoughts today
Jackie and I were fortunate to visit Omaha Beach and Port du Hoc twice.
June 6 always conjures up ideas of bravery, sacrifice, allegiance, freedom..... The invasion in Normandy was simply amazing.
We have wandered the cemetery where so many are buried. I have stood on the beach and was amazed at how var the beach was from the cliffs. I wondered how anyone could have survived the landing.
But they did.
The first time we went there it was s foggy you could not see the channel from the cemetery.
The second time we went it was perfectly clear. That was even more frightening.
Looking at the thousands of white crosses made me realize these folks were The Greatest Generation.
Went to a plant store today. Bought 2 plants and had a Big Boy tomato plant in my cart, along with other plants. Decided to swap out one of the 2 for a different plant. Got home and discovered I now have 3 plants but no Big Boy. Must have put that back by mistake.
Every morning I put out Jackie's clothes. Then I put the hanger in the closet and the wheelchair in the bathroom. Today I put the hanger in the bathroom and the wheelchair in the closet. Go figure.
Discovered that of the 4 rows of peas I planted, only 6 plants appeared. That ends the pea experiment. I have no idea why I can't grow peas. Hell, I take enough of them!
I am following several pages on Facebook. One of them deals with before and after pictures of WW II. It's amazing to see villages like St Lo in France almost leveled, yet rebuilt to look like it did before the war.
Wonder if leaders think how much it is going to cost to repair roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, or railroad lines after they bomb the hell out of places. Somebody has to pay.
They sure don't think of the human suffering. Only their own power.
Peace and Love
