I pulled up our water hats, gloves, and scarves today
Jackie and I are going to Morton Arboretum tomorrow for the lights display.
I booked tickets early because I figured it will be warmer in November than in December. I know...duh.
We will need gloves and hats for the outing.
I just hope I won't have problems pushing her in the wheelchair. I think the path is about 1 mile long, and there are places to stop along he way so I am confident I won't have a problem. Slow and steady, slow and steady.
Friend Renee told me last year that I should be ok except for one area where there was a little rise. At least, that is what is sticking in my brain.
As long as we are properly dressed, we should both be fine.
I went to Wallyworld for some Thanksgiving stuff and was amazed at the amount of pies and cookies on display. It seemed like there were thousands of pumpkin pies. I am probably way off on my estimate, but there were a lot.
My pumpkin pies never last more than a few days before little green spots appear. It is still 4 days to Thanksgiving and I hope their pies keep. I also wonder what they do with the ones they don't sell. I'd hate to see a dumpster full of pies on Thanksgiving!
Not only was yesterday Julia's birthday, but it was the anniversary of one of the darkest days in our country's history.
I had gone home for lunch from Lake View High School. I lived half a block away. Usually I listen to the radio and ate, but that day I did not turn on the radio.
When I walked into school someone told me Kennedy had been shot. I told him that was not something to joke about. He said he wasn't, but I did not believe him.
After that encounter, my mind is a blur. I r remember going int a classroom and the teacher telling us Kennedy was dead. I think we were dismissed and went home.
I think we would have been a better country had he not been killed. He was young, vibrant, had a vision and would have been a good leader. I know, he had some shortcomings. He evidently was quite the womanizer.
Things like that were pretty hushed up in those days. Now it seems a badge of honor and gets you a cabinet position.
Sorry.
Peace and Love
