Nothing beats a good shade tree
An area tree nursery has a sale in late August. Today I went up and bought 3 trees.
Where a I going to put them?
On my lot.
I figure trees will add to the value of the lot when I go to sell it. So it is really an investment that should grow over time.
Punny, eh?
One of the trees is a shagbark hickory.
I was pretty set on getting one because we live in Hickory Ridge subdivision and I never see any hickory trees on our street, besides the one in my back yard.
So now there will be a least 2.
The other 2 are sugar maples, which Jackie and I love for the color they produce in the fall.
Now all I have to do is wait for them to be installed.
The lady looked at the name on the order form and immediately connected to Emily. She has bought a lot up there over the previous years.
I was also wearing my "May the forest be with you" shirt that the girls bought me in Jim Thorpe, PA. The ladies saw it, loved it, and took my picture. That was fun.
I had another purchase that needed to be made.
Yesterday the back door developed a problem.
I could not open it.
The door does have a deadbolt, but it is a passage only handle. For some reason the lever would work but that little thingy that goes into the hole in the door frame would not retract.
As I write that, it hits me as strange that it isn't a deadbolt. There is one on the door, but the lever does not lock, if you get what I mean.
So I had to take the handle off and pry out the thingy that goes into the frame. Parts seem to fall out as I took it apart, so I assume something important broke.
Now I hope my poor eyes and arthritic hands can install the new one tomorrow.
On the box it says installs in minutes, so I am planning on 2-3 hours to get it installed.
Yes, I am being optimistic.
Peace and Love
