dough or do?

Today was donut day for the RACF

And Kim....I apologize.  In fifth grade, during a spelling bee, I do not allow donut as  the official spelling for doughnut.  You were right.  I was wrong.

Now that that is out of the way, the Rochelle Area Community Foundation has a sweet way to thank the community for the support given to the foundation:  free doughnuts!

I was one of the people passing out the treats.  It was a beautiful day, the only downside was the amount of wasps attracted by the doughnuts.  Whenever we uncovered a box, the wasps would arrive.  We made sure the little stingers did not get served with a doughnut!

And thanks to the Presbyterian Church, Jackie and I  enjoyed a pork chop dinner to help support the youth groups at the church.

No dishes.  No cooking.  No hassle.  I could do. this everyday!

I also got a bike ride in, topping the 7 mile mark for the first time in 2 years.  There was a time I could ride a lot farther, but there was also I time I was a lot younger.

I watered the porch plants, put away my pile of empty pails and planters, pushed my yard cart into the garage and settled down to watch Thursday Murder Club on Netflix.

And thanks to Julia for picking up all the pails and planters that were knocked over from my beautiful stack.  Wind?  Animals?  Ghosts?

The wondering mind wants to know.

A side note to the doughnuts.   When I was teaching with Gwen, the reading series had a story about Henry Reed and doughnuts.

We set up a doughnut making station in one of the rooms and made donuts for all the fifth graders.  The school smelled like a grease pit for days.

We had a doughnut maker, deep fryer, gloves and coverings  for the donuts.  I don't think we would be able to do that in today's world.

But donuts will never go out of style...an I think I may still have the doughnut dropper thing.

That might be worth a look see!

Peace and Love
